Read this before using Fly Overhead for any flight-related decision.
Fly Overhead provides flight tracking, planning, and electronic flight bag tools for situational awareness only. It is not a substitute for FAA-approved navigation, charts, weather, or NOTAM sources, and it is not certified for primary navigation or instrument approach.
You, the pilot in command, retain sole responsibility for the safe operation of your aircraft. Always verify safety-of-flight information against official sources before each flight.
Data displayed in Fly Overhead — ADS-B positions, aeronautical charts, weather observations and forecasts, NOTAMs, TFRs, and routing — is sourced from third-party providers and may be incomplete, delayed, or out of date. ADS-B coverage has gaps below 18,000 ft, in mountainous terrain, and over open water.
Fly Overhead uses AI to summarize and present aviation information (weather, NOTAMs, route insights, debriefs). AI-generated content may be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading, even when it sounds confident.
You must verify any AI output against authoritative sources — the FAA, NWS Aviation Weather Center, NOTAM Search, or your preferred certified EFB — before making any departure-risk, route, weather, or fuel decision. AI features are advisory. The pilot in command retains sole responsibility for the safe operation of the flight.
When you record a debrief, the audio is securely uploaded to our AI provider (Anthropic) for transcription and summary. The audio is processed and not retained beyond the time needed to generate your debrief. If you record other people's voices (passengers, ATC, etc.), you are responsible for any consent required by law in your jurisdiction. Some US states require all parties to consent to a recording.
Fly Overhead is not an emergency service. In an emergency, contact ATC on the appropriate frequency (121.5 MHz guard if no other contact is established) or call 911.
